Privacy Policy

Who we are

Our website address is https://falloutobserver.com. Fallout Observer is an independent platform focused on geopolitics, conflicts, intelligence, and global strategy.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist in spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to verify if you use it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture becomes visible to the public alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images containing embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site may download and extract any location data from images posted on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. These cookies are for your convenience so you do not need to fill in your details again when leaving another comment. These cookies last for one year.

If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie will be created to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, several cookies will be created to save your login information and your display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, while display preference cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. After logging out, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be stored in your browser. This cookie does not contain personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you edited. It expires after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (such as videos, images, or articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as it would if you were visiting the other website directly.

These external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking tools, and monitor your interaction with their embedded content — including tracking your activity if you have an account and are logged in to those websites.

Affiliate Links

This website may contain affiliate links to books, reports, or other items available through Amazon. If you purchase a product through one of these links, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. These commissions help support the ongoing operation and development of the Fallout Observer project, including research, content production, and platform maintenance.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and automatically approve follow-up comments instead of holding them for moderation.

For users who register on our website (if any), we store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username). Website administrators can also view and edit this information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you may request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided. You may also request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
